Tumbling Class Options Offered at Mission Cheer Academy

Basics for Beginners

Our Basics for Beginners class is the perfect launching pad for athletes taking their first steps into tumbling. Designed for children aged 5 and up with little to no prior experience, this class focuses on building a rock-solid foundation. In a safe, high-energy, and supportive environment, students will master essential fundamental skills, including handstands, cartwheels, forward and backward rolls, and bridges. Alongside floor skills, athletes will train on our tumble track and air track, while engaging in fun conditioning and flexibility exercises to build strength and gym confidence.

Intro to Walkovers

Our Intro to Walkovers class is designed for athletes who have mastered their basic tumbling shapes and are ready to tackle more advanced skills. In a focused and supportive environment, students will learn the step-by-step techniques required for both front and back walkovers, emphasizing shoulder flexibility, core strength, and proper body alignment. Using the floor, tumble track, and specialized training mats, coaches will guide athletes through drills and spotting to help them safely achieve these foundational milestones.

Everything Walkovers

Our Everything Walkovers class is designed for athletes who have mastered the basic mechanics and are ready to perfect and connect their front and back walkovers. In this focused environment, students will work on fluid transitions, increased flexibility, and the strong core control needed for clean execution. Using the floor, tumble track, and training mats, coaches will help athletes refine their technique, build confidence, and master these skills to prepare for advanced tumbling combinations.

Intro to Handsprings & Roundoffs

Our Intro to Handsprings and Roundoffs class is designed for athletes who have mastered their walkovers and are ready to transition into power tumbling. This class focuses on the essential body shapes, explosive leg drive, and strong shoulder rebound needed for back handsprings and powerful roundoffs. Using specialized mats and the tumble track, coaches will guide students through progressive drills and spotting to safely build the momentum and confidence required for these dynamic skills.

Everything Handsprings

Our Everything Handsprings class is designed for athletes who have learned the basics of the skill and are ready to perfect, connect, and power up their handsprings. This class focuses on building the necessary upper body strength, explosive power, and proper technique to perform multiple handsprings in a row and connect them out of a roundoff. Using the floor, tumble track, and specialized training equipment, coaches will help athletes refine their form, eliminate tracking issues, and master consistent, confident handspring execution.

Elite Levels 3-6

Our Elite Levels 3-6 class is designed for advanced athletes ready to master high-level tumbling skills. Entry into this class requires a prior evaluation to ensure safety and proper placement. In a highly focused training environment, athletes will work on elite skills ranging from tucks and layouts to fulls and arabians. Guided by our expert coaches, students will utilize the floor, tumble track, and specialized equipment to perfect their technique, build explosive power, and safely execute advanced tumbling combinations.

Recreational Tumbling

At Mission Cheer Academy, our tumbling classes are all about having fun while mastering new skills in a safe, high-energy environment. We encourage our athletes to set personal goals, working closely with our highly qualified coaches and independently to achieve them. To keep you connected to their journey, we perform monthly assessments and regularly update parents on their child’s progress. Athletes are always grouped by both age and skill level, ensuring we find the perfect fit to build their technique, fitness, and self-confidence.

About the Skills

At Mission Cheer Academy, our safety-certified instructors use progressive drills and hands-on spotting to safely guide athletes through new skills. Each class begins with a dynamic group warm-up, followed by station work designed to build muscle memory, strength, and flexibility. We prioritize individualized progression, ensuring every athlete receives valuable one-on-one time with a coach to work on spotted skills in every single class.
